This study is a clinical observation and review of 28 cases of patients with newly formed gallstones, recurrent or, residual stones, and intrahepatic stones, preoperatively or postoperatively, seen in Department of Surgery, Fatima, Hospital, Daegu, Korea, from Jannuary 1970 to December 1976.
Total numbers of 28 cases were treated with Roux-en-Y choledochojejunostomy (end-to-end or side-to-end), and end-to-side loop choledochojejunostomy with side-to-side jejunostomy. And then, following results were obtained;
1) 13.25% of all gallstone patients were found to be intrahepatic stone and recurrent or residual stones
2) The ratio of male to famale was 1 1.3 in 28 cases.
3) The most common age groups were 3 rd decades and 2nd decade in order.
4) The most common symptoms and signs were right upper guadrant and epigastric pa(82..2%), jaundice (67.8%) and chill and fever (64.3%) in order.
5) The intrahepatic stones were found in left intrahepatic duct in 78.4% and in the right intrahepatic duct in 53.6%
6) Postoperatively, there was 3 complicated-cases (10.7%).With ascending or reflux cholangitis and 3 cases (10.7%) with residual stones.
